Work

Today is 20SB second vlog day! Unfortunately, I didn’t quite remember or have the time to work on it till I woke up today when I found myself up earlier than planned… after working all night at the radio station. However, we can all thank Todd Richards for the lovely early morning phone call in his intense sexy voice  for getting me out of bed on just a couple hours of sleep. As many know… there’s no sleeping, only drinking after his phone calls.

Anyway, the requirement for this vlog was to share something I love. My groupies at work wanted me to share with you the pie/flow chart of lady friends, I was considering my love for homemade bread; but in the end I opted for something short and simple – yet essential! My kitchen sink. Since the geyser and flooding escapade from the second week of January knocked out my kitchen, I’ve been torturing the bathroom sink with all sorts of stuff not meant for a tiny hole… even had to break out the plunger once. No more though! Just a few days ago the kitchen sink returned! Sharing my joy, here is the vlog: Love the Kitchen Sink. Seriously.

This is America and this is our holiday! The pure American Thanksgiving. We should be proud of this holiday as it symbolizes a great achievement in the name of freedom, a freedom which I still strongly believe in. My uncle took opportunity this Thanksgiving to do some blogging on the Thanksgiving story, while I took the time to discuss the vegetarian twist on my meal.

So what does a vegetarian celebrate with while the family knaws on a bone? Why a vegetarian roast of course! This year I decided to forgo my usual beer-battered veggie roast to one more liking to a traditional roast. I hate the tofurkey style roasts that most vegetarians go haywire for. I’m all about Quorn’s veggie roast.

This year I took the roast straight from the freezer, removed all the packaging and plastic from around the unit and put it in a baking dish submerged in mushrooms, onions and a homemade veggie broth. After a good two hours at 375 I had one delicious slab of soy protein. With the leftover pan full of broth and roast juices, I mixed in some corn starch for some stellar gravy. Cooking the veggie roast this way is probably the closest one will come to blending in with the rest of the turkey-munchers.

In addition to the veggie roast, I also enjoyed some glorified vegan sweet-potato casserole, green bean casserole, some vegetarian stuffing and of-course the cranberry sauce! Mmm, it was delicious.

The second best part to Thanksgiving dinner is enjoying the leftovers for days to come!

While many people hate Bush, I am glad that he has continued the tradition started by his father in 1989… and I can only hope that Obama will care to do the same.
Bush Pardons Turkey
It looks like the turkeys who are pardoned enjoy quite the lifestyle. :)

One of the other best things that I’m starting to notice is the perks of working in education! I know the karma is going to come back to me – probably tenfold, but I had to chuckle at my friends and family who were not so fortunate to have the day after Thanksgiving off. I thought of them as I slept in, still full from the night before.

Hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving weekend and not being crazy stupid on black friday.

Golf Practicing

The other day I got roped into a vendor golf outing for work… the only problem is I wouldn’t call myself a golfer, maybe a good putt-putter, but not a golfer. So I went to the driving range today to brush up on my non-existent golf skills.

I started out with a bucket of balls and zero curse words. Seventy balls later and numerous words mutter…I finished with a bad blood pressure. Out of the 70, I had hit 30 of them over 25 yards and maybe 7 past 175 yards. That makes my stats? Awful. It also didn’t help there were some pros standing around hitting in the 200’s everytime and all I could do is smash and launch T’s.

Luckily, from what I hear, tomorrow will be full of bad golfers which is why the game is going to be played as “best ball.” Best ball sounds kinda cool because we will all play from where the best ball landed (out of our team of 4.) So when I hit it in the water or into a car windshield I won’t feel obligated to go find it.

While freeandflawed sent a helpful iphone application (iGolf) to allow me to practice at work, I am so far in the crapper here that I may be better off researching how to upgrade my glasses to show me more information:

Ofcourse the reality of it all, as depicted by CartoonRoom:
