While I was referring to Windows XP, Vista also seems to take its time with the traditional "windows lag" as I like to call it. Besides, if an OS needs so many processes to just boot... it must be a faulted inefficient operating system.

As for Mac OS X being like Linux... when it comes down to it, both are based off the Unix platform which allows for several similarities. The experience on OSX is completely different than that on say Ubuntu.... so they are also quite different.

You have to remember Braden, that Apple is successful because they offer a package. You buy the package because it works. They customized software to work on quality hardware so the user experience is up to their standards. No other company can come close to that claim and success rate, it is a common sense way of marketing and selling computers.

Here is an <a href="http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/oreilly/mac/news/macosx_0301.html" rel="nofollow">interesting article link</a>.

"Before you’d even see the XP start up screen the mac will be completely booted up"

As much as that may be true, keep in mind that the MAC doesn't have as many processes required to boot up in the background as well.

And I did notice you were talking about Windows XP.

Windows Vista x64 boots up on my box very quickly, is extremely stable for I've never experienced a single program failure, and just works.

That new MAC OS, on the other hand is based on the Linux platform, which really doesn't make it that much different from say, Ubuntu if one really wants to get down to the nitty gritty of it all. if Apple wanted to be really innovative, they'd release a new operating system based on a platform which is truly "new" and original.

Yes, the same can be said for Windows XP, which is based on the core Server 2003 technology, was is derived from NT Technology. Windows 2000 is the first attempt, wasn't too popular if you ask me. Windows Vista represented a new platform, with Windows 7 is"cleaning" up what wasn't so popular on the Vista platform (although I never had any of these problems - could it be user ignorance? Who knows).

Not that I'm knocking the MAC, I like MACS, they're sleak, they work, and are very functional.

I just wanted to set the story straight. ;-)
